Okavango River Boat Fishing and Bird Viewing

Location

The Ngwesi is moored at Seronga.  Travel by road from Maun to Shakawe : Approx. 362km, Tar road all the way. Shakawe- Mohembo is about 25 km. Wait in line to cross with the Ferry at Mohembo. Sometimes there is lots of traffic and waiting time can be up to 2 hours, so it is advisable to be there early (they start operating at 6am ). From there travel about 110km on a gravel road to Seronga. Allow 2 hours. In Seronga you’ll see  a sign board that reads: “Okavango Houseboats“. Follow that to the offices and parking area.   There is a boat station at Sepupa village as well with safe parking.  Turn off at Sepupa Village (1.7km) to reach the Boat Station. Boat transfers can be arranged from here, which takes about 1 hour.   The airstrip at Seronga is licensed to take public aircraft and is approximately 15 min to the   houseboat .

The Seronga area, being a mix of riverine bush, savannah and semi-desert, is a Mecca for bird- watchers. It is located close to the beginning of the Okavango panhandle which channels the waters of the Okavango River between thick, meandering banks of papyrus before it opens up into the vast fan-shaped Delta.

From Namibia : Enter at Mohembo Border post – Approx. 68Km to Sepupa and 110km to Seronga.
